Ricardo Lara's Swearing-In Celebration

California's new elected Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara was sworn in on Monday, January 7th, and what better way to celebrate than with a huge party in his honor! We had the pleasure of planning his swearing-in celebration in downtown Sacramento and no detail was overlooked. Lara, the first openly gay statewide elected official, celebrated with colleagues, family, and friends at the Badlands Dance Club located a few minutes away from the California Capitol. Below are photos from the evening!

Full service planning and coordination: Jenn Robirds Events | Photographer: Johnny and Jessica Zuleta | Venue: Badlands | Catering: WM Restaurants and Fine Catering | Bar and Beverage: Badlands | Lighting: SJ's DJ | Floral: Thistle and Honey | Rentals: Celebrations Party Rentals, La Tavola Fine Linens, The Party Concierge, Standard Party Rentals, Embassy Flag Rentals, Swoonable, Delta Restaurant Supply & Party Rentals.

The Party Concierge's light-up balloons were a hit and took the room into full celebration-mode.

All eyes were on the stage and its dramatic floral instal. What a fun backdrop to celebratory speeches that were given.

The VIP space screamed elegant but fun. Overlooking Midtown, guests were able to mingle with their signature drink in hand.

The lounge furniture we rented looked like it belonged at the venue 24/7. With a touch of gold and some candlelight, it made for a perfect space to enjoy the evening.

The 9-foot acrylic PRIDE letters in this photo also made an appearance last year at Toni Atkin's swearing-in celebration. They add a dramatic dimension to the space and provide a unique photo backdrop!

Personalized details were seen all throughout the space and made for a unique celebration for Ricardo Lara!

Thistle and Honey's floral instal over the bar wowed guests and left us longing for summer.
