DIY Gourmet S'Mores Favors

In 2015 we did so many s'mores favors. We love them! They are cute, affordable, easy and on-trend with the rustic-chic style that is having a major moment right now. So for our first bridal show of 2016 we thought, how could we upgrade the standard s'mores favor?

We decided that a gourmet hand-made dark chocolate bark could take the humble s'more to another level. It was an easy project and the brides and grooms we met at the show loved them. They loved them so much we went through a whopping 100 in the first 50 minutes!

Here's how we did it:

Ingredients List:

-Jumbo Large Marshmallows (specialty stores sell artisanal hand-made marshmallows and if we were'nt trying to keep each favor well under $1 we would have splurged on these!)

-Graham crackers already in a square shape (who wants to struggle with breaking the rectangles down? Not to mention there would be a lot of waste as the crackers would crumble.)

-Dark choclate chips

-White chocolate chips

-Flaked coconut

-Almonds, slivered

-Pecans, chopped

-Dried cherries, chopped

-Dried apricot, julienned

-Packaging (we used 4x4x9 gusset bags from www.clearbags.com)

-Twine for tying

Fill a pot about 1 inch full of water and bring to a simmer. Place the dark choclate into a glass bowl that fits over the pot (but does not allow the bottom to touch the simmering water, creating a double boiler). Stir the chocolate constantly until it melts. Pour out the chocolate onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Generously sprinkle the coconut, pecans, almonds, cherries and apricot over the dark choclate.

Now melt the white chocolate (in a new, clean bowl) over the simmering water. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the bark. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow it to firm.

You can break the bark apart in pieces or cut it into squares if you let it come to room temperature after taking it out of the fridge. For 100 favors we needed 6 large cookie sheets of bark.

Package in clear bags or boxes so guests can see the gorgeous bark! Each of our favors had enough to make two gourmet s'mores. (2 large marshmallows, 4 graham crakers and 2 or 3 large pieces of chocolate bark).

And for your daily does of pretty, here are the flowers we put together for the show. We were pleasantly surprised to find white peonies at the flower mart along with some gorgeous burgundy dahlias. We added in lots of greenery, deep purple privet berries and a dusty pink rose. The results were whimsical perfection!
